Insurance is important to me because it is the only product that sells peace of mind. Today’s world is full of risks. Whether it’s walking around your own home, or skiing down a mountain, you never know when disaster could strike. It is nearly impossible to have a mind at ease without knowing that you are covered should anything damaging take place in your life. Whether it’s your health, your car, or your business insurance is there as a measure of security against whatever might be thrown your way.

When it comes to your health, nothing is more important and not having insurance could be a matter life and death. Without health insurance, it is difficult to keep up with the ever increasing needs that come with maintaining your body. In many cases it can cover the costs of preventative care that can catch problems early before they reach serious levels.

Things like dental teeth cleaning could deter costly orthodontist bills in the future. Cancer screenings and breast screenings could save your life if caught early. Just having a third perspective by a professional during routine physicals could be enough to keep you on track as far as maintaining your weight, eating correctly, or direction to be taken as far as exercise.

A lot of healthcare plans offer gym memberships and discounts. Many have implemented a point system where incentives are given to people who meet certain milestones. My mother got a fitbit through her insurance company after logging how much she walked or exercised during the day. Insurance companies want you to be as healthy as possible because it saves both you and them money in the long run. However the real benefit to these incentives really go the consumer, if it improves their health then it will improve their way of life also.

Should you ever need to have surgery or are victim to a traumatic incident where you need to spend some time in the hospital. Insurance is an invaluable safeguard to your financial security. With hospital costs that can quickly run into the tens of thousands of dollars, and most people today living paycheck to paycheck, an unforeseen incident that involves a hospital stay could destroy your financial future.

Health insurance isn’t the only means to cover your hospital stay however, or at least regarding you ending up there from being in a car accident. I just got my first car about a year ago, and I’m on my parent’s plan. We got a break in some of the cost because I am an honors student. I don’t really understand how that makes me a better driver, but perhaps they think I must be more responsible having to accomplish so much at school.

Well I at least have a little more confidence on the road knowing that I have coverage in case of an accident. It’s the type of insurance I pray I will never have to use. I lost an aunt a few years ago in a car accident. She was the passenger and the person she was driving with decided to try and pass someone on a hill. It was a head-on collision and the driver did not have insurance. The individual families were left to pick up the pieces. I wouldn’t want to put that burden on anyone, which is why I’ll always at least have insurance in case the unthinkable happens.

A few years ago, my Dad bought a used car. It was a 2007 Cadillac and he was so happy when he brought it home. Even though it was an older vehicle it still looked nice and it had about 75,000 miles on it. I remember him complaining about being talked into a warranty and adding a couple thousand dollars onto the purchased price. But as luck would have it, it turns out to be a very wise purchase because  not soon after he bought it he started to hear a rattling noise. He brought it in and it turns out they had to replace the engine not once, but twice. If he decided to just not take the extra insurance coverage, it would have costed him thousands of dollars.

So, insurance to me is the one thing I buy but hope to never use. But at least I have the peace of mind the comes with knowing that if I did need to use it was there. There are a lot of people that try to take their chances in order to save a few bucks, but I feel what insurance gives me s priceless.

Enhanced Insurance is not written by attorneys. If you’re looking for legal advice, you need to contact a lawyer. Further, insurance practices and forms change constantly and are varied from state to state. For definitive answers in your area, contact a local agent.

While the majority of people want an agent involved in their purchase of insurance, many people want to see if they can save money by buying direct from the insurance company. Others want to try a direct quote to make sure the premium they’re now paying through their local agent is fair.
