As a 17 year old senior anticipating my upcoming graduation, I am suddenly aware of just how necessary insurance is.  This past year has been exceedingly difficult for me, and without insurance, I am not sure where I would be.  An elbow injury has diverted my dreams of playing college golf.  The past fifteen months have consisted of visits to numerous doctors including; my Family Physician, Orthopedic Surgeon, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and a Hand, Wrist and Elbow Specialist. All of these doctors have accepted my insurance and the only thing that I had to worry about was the co-pays.  Having multiple X-rays, MRI’s, therapy sessions and surgery would have been nearly impossible to afford without insurance. In addition to my elbow injury, I have also been suffering from crippling migraine headaches.   Over the counter medicines like Advil, Tylenol and Excedrin were being eaten like candy.  Ice packs, dark rooms, leaning over the toilet was old habit.  My school and grades were affected along with my relationships with friends.  I started to feel helpless and depressed, like nothing would ever be normal again. Being able to make it through a day without extreme pain, dizziness, nausea was something that I craved. Again I had to visit multiple doctors offices to find a specialist that was able to alleviate my pain. Throughout this time, the doctor had to prescribe several various medications and dosages to try to find something that would assist me to be able to return to a typical teenager’s lifestyle. It seemed like a guessing game.  Having this type of policy allowed me to go to different doctors and hospitals without thinking twice about the cost, in addition to paying lower prices for these medications.  I have a newly discovered sense of peace knowing that I am able to get the care that I need, when I need it.  Health Insurance is essential and gives me the security I need to deal with life’s unexpected hardships.

Another critical type of plan is life insurance.  The reason this is valuable is because being prepared is always better than not being prepared.  Since I am young and relatively healthy, now is the best time to invest in a policy.  Companies are allowed to deny an individual coverage if they are sick or have a pre-existing condition. My family and I have personally experienced this when my grandfather was denied coverage due to a stroke he had previously suffered from.  Life insurance rates are reasonable in price when purchased at a younger age, therefore, it makes sense to obtain coverage at this stage of my life. Having this type of insurance is optional, but necessary.  The plan will be there to provide monetary assistance to family members if, or when something unexpected happens. In an event of an unexpected death, the burden of the expense, is the last thing a loved one should have to deal with. This policy does provide one less uncertainty.

Car Insurance is yet another crucial type of policy.  Although it is the law that everyone needs to be covered, I believe that it would be irresponsible for anyone to get behind the wheel without it.  Auto insurance protects the vehicle, other vehicles, people involved, medical expenses and most importantly the people inside of it.  Owning a car for over a year, I have had a few instances where having insurance has saved me from paying a huge bill.  The first one was when my car was hit by another car.  When it had to be repaired, the costs did not concern me because I had coverage.  The other time was when my car was making a weird noise, I brought it in, the part was covered by insurance.  I didn’t have to pay anything.  When unexpected things happen, and the car is not functioning properly, having a good policy eases the worry.

In closing, insurance is vital to my life.  The three insurance policies discussed above can assist in supporting a content, secure and less stressful, long life. As I have learned in the past fifteen month period, my policies have become a vital part in ensuring my security.  From my past experience, it is obvious that having the proper coverage when things go wrong can help alleviate financial strain.  At this age, everything I have and earn is being applied towards my future.  For this reason, the peace of mind insurance gives me, is well worth the price.

Enhanced Insurance is not written by attorneys. If you’re looking for legal advice, you need to contact a lawyer. Further, insurance practices and forms change constantly and are varied from state to state. For definitive answers in your area, contact a local agent.

While the majority of people want an agent involved in their purchase of insurance, many people want to see if they can save money by buying direct from the insurance company. Others want to try a direct quote to make sure the premium they’re now paying through their local agent is fair.
